Joseph Hills b. 3 Mar 1602 in Burstead, Essex, England. d. 5 Feb 1688 in Newbury, MA.  Son of George Hilles and Mary Symonds (widow of William Symonds).  m. Rose Clark 22 Jul 1624 in Ingatestone, Essex, England. m#2 Hannah Smith m. #3 Helen or Eleanor Atkinson.

His siblings being Rebecca b. Feb 1608 and two younger siblings.
 
In 1638 he was the "undertaker" of the voyage of the ship "Susan and Ellen" which arrived in July 17, 1638 and landed in Boston.
 
Joseph recites in May 24, 1682 that in the latter part of his pilgrimage he was totally bereaved of the sight of his eyes for more than four years now past.
